PRESS RELEASE

JK Gallery is delighted to announce an exhibition of paintings by California artist Yvette M. Brown. This will be her first exhibition with JKGallery.

Some people dream of flying. Others have nightmares in which they’re falling out of control. As an artist, I strive to create images that mine the rich archetypal vein that lies in between. I like the tension between awkwardness and grace. The violence that bubbles just beneath beauty. The frozen moment in which balance is either lost or regained. I find my inspiration in the kinetic culture of Southern California. In the constant cycle of destruction and creation as different communities push and pull against each other. In the way we’re so eager to uproot everything to realize our dreams, knowing that, any moment the whole place could literally shake itself apart.
