PRESS RELEASE

JK Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring new drawings by Meeson Pae Yang. Combining a variety of media, Yang creates multilayered translucent and opaque bio-synthetic forms that weave from representation to abstraction. Utilizing a variety of media and techniques from soft washes and blobs of ink and watercolor, to clean lines of digital rendering or pen and pencil, all elements seem to combine into a fluid captivating scene.

Yang observes both the microscopic and macroscopic world and manifests the digested pieces to fasten a new narrative. Her work alludes to mysterious functions and biosynthetic hybrids, reflecting systems within the body, nature, and imagination. Her works becomes environments transporting viewers into a fantastic universe where micro and macro systems converge, bizarre creatures mutate and thrive, and the subconscious and imagination are free. The work is not a literal translation of natural systems, but the extraction and recombination of ideas and images.

Meeson Pae Yang born in Indianapolis, IN  graduated from UCLA and resides and works in Los Angeles. She is known for her innovation with specific attention to materiality, space and a consciousness of the natural environment.
